Submarine Cable Degassing
Controlled thermal degassing of XLPE insulation, with continuous methane and oxygen monitoring.
The Challenge
Submarine cables with XLPE insulation require thermal degassing after production, to remove the gaseous by-products of the insulation before testing and delivery.
The process had to run with precise temperature control and safely, since methane is released during degassing.
The Solution
We designed and implemented the automation for controlled thermal degassing, with continuous methane (CH₄) and oxygen (O₂) monitoring.
The system monitors gas concentrations in real time, so the process always stays within safe limits.
